PUBLISHED 3:54 PM CDT Apr. 08, 2022DALLAS — The Russian invasion of Ukraine has forced millions of people to resettle in new countries. The Biden Administration has permitted up to 100,000 refugees from the war-torn country to resettle in the United States, and some Ukrainians have already made their way to Texas on a tourist visa.
The U.N. estimates more than 1,200 civilians have died due to the war. The family said as they drove from Kharkiv to safety, they saw nothing but devastation and bloodshed. "We have lost our home, our life, we have lost everything that we used to know," said Tamara Kovalska. "This is so difficult for us because I am realizing that I may no longer have the flat that I used to live in."
