The previous treasurer for Cressona Borough has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for tax evasion related to the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars from the borough.
Hossler previously worked as the secretary and treasurer for Cressona Borough, where she failed to file income tax returns in 2015, 2016 and 2017, according to John Gurganus, a United States Attorney. To cover-up the theft, Hossler altered federal records and withheld payment of federal employment taxes for Cressona Borough employees, according to Clark. She also altered an audit from an independent accounting firm to make it seem like the firm approved of the borough’s finances.
