With the fight date drawing near, Filipino boxer Charly Suarez is determined to become the next Filipino world boxing champion, as he faces off against Andres Cortes in a high-stakes 10-round World Boxing Organization (WBO) eliminator on September 20 in Arizona. “Pangarap eh, pangarap ko.
Governor Chavit Singson presented Charly Suarez who is resuming his bid for a world title as he faces American opponent Andres Cortes in a 10-round eliminator on September 20 in Glendale, Arizona. At a press conference on August 31, Suarez revealed that his lifelong aspiration to become a professional world champion was delayed due to an injury he sustained following the 2016 Olympics.Suarez boasts a flawless record, having won all 17 of his professional bouts since his debut on January 1, 2019.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Singson, who has strong ties with eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao, promptly offered his assistance to the Davao del Sur native. “After hearing about his situation, I contacted Bob Arum,” Singson explained. Arum, a Hall of Fame promoter and head of Top Rank Inc., one of the premier boxing promotion companies, was already familiar with Pacquiao, who once fought under the Las Vegas-based organization. Singson had not only met Arum but had also hosted him.“It was difficult to turn Charly down because of his kindness,” Singson said.
