MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or 'amihan' and the easterlies will affect the country over the next 24 hours, the state-run weather agency said on Sunday.

MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or 'amihan' and the easterlies will affect the country over the next 24 hours, the state-run weather agency said on Sunday.Weather specialist Grace Castañeda of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said it has not monitored any tropical cyclones or low pressure areas inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the coming days.

She said the northeast monsoon - the season of cold, dry and strong northeasterly winds that blow from the west - has been bringing overcast skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon.The same weather system would also be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon where isolated light rains would prevail, the national weather bureau said.
