Nearly 14% of New York residents have tested positive for Covid-19 antibodies, according to preliminary findings that are expected to shape how the state approaches reopening its economy
ALBANY — Nearly 14 percent of New York residents have tested positive for Covid-19 antibodies, according to preliminary findings that are expected to shape how the state approaches reopening its economy.
Cuomo argued that the data supports regional analysis and decision-making in a “coordinated framework.” Of the 13.9 percent found to have Covid-19 antibodies, Cuomo said, most came from New York City, where 21.2 percent tested positive. Nearly 17 percent of Long Island residents tested, meanwhile, were positive for the antibodies, as were about 12 percent of those from Westchester and Rockland Counties. If the infection rate is 13.9 percent, he said, an estimated 2.7 million people have contracted Covid-19 statewide. The findings further suggest the virus has a death rate of about 0.5 percent.
