Top officials of DPWH have discussed with Japanese experts the proposed Dalton Pass East Alternative Project that would provide motorists comfortable and fast access from Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya to the Cagayan Valley Region and CAR. READ:

DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain said the kick-off meeting aims to evaluate the feasibility of the project and its benefits.“It was an opportunity to assess every facet of the project to ensure its quality and safety and to discuss anticipated issues and concerns, with the end in mind of preventing problems and delays during implementation,” said Sadain.

It would be comprised of four-lane roads with 10 bridges; 6.1-kilometer four-lane tunnels with lighting, ventilation, and emergency facilities; and slope protection works which will serve as an alternate route bypassing the existing Dalton Pass Section along Pan-Philippine Highway , or the Daang Maharlika.
