THE Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) has allocated P50 million to help workers displaced by Mayon Volcano's restiveness in seven towns and cities in Albay. READ HERE:
The P50-million emergency employment assistance will be implemented under the Tupad or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program.Department of Labor and Employment The Tupad program provides workers in the informal sector a 10-day emergency employment, but not exceeding 30 days depending on the work to be performed. Workers are paid the minimum wage prevailing in their respective areas.
Under Tupad, one member from each affected family will be paid P10,950 for 30 days doing community gardening near the evacuation centers, temporary shelter maintenance and housekeeping, as well as food preparation.Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said on Monday the Tupad emergency employment assistance would be managed by the DoLE Regional Office in Bicol.The agency will start the profiling of beneficiaries on Friday in all evacuation sites in Albay.
