The “very slow” effusion of lava from the Mayon Volcano’s summit dome has reached as far as 1.5 kilometers along the Mi-isi Gully, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) on Sunday.

Lava is seen flowing out of Mayon Volcano in Albay at 1:34 a.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2023, in this screenshot from a video shared by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. The lava flows have advanced by as much as 1.5 kilometer, PHIVOLCS says.

As of 12 a.m., PHIVOLCS said the lava flows along the Mi-isi and Bonga Gullies had advanced by 1.5 kilometers and 1 kilometers, respectively.Lava collapse on the Mi-isi and Bonga Gullies also extended to 3.3 kilometers from the crater.
