Based on the report, the BA.5 subvariant remains as the dominant strain in the country, with a total of 12,658 cases recorded. The BA.2.3.20 followed at second, with a total of 3,881 cases. The XBB subvariant, meanwhile, accounted for 949 of the total cases, 610 were XBC, 38 were BA.2.7.5, while BQ.1 subvariant accounted for 19 of the cases.

The least dominant strains were the Omicron BF.7 and BN. 1 subvariant, which were recorded in seven and four cases, respectively. As of Jan. 10, the country currently has 11,856 active COVID-19 infections, based on the DOH’s online COVID-19 tracker.
