​Chile's top diplomat visited the Philippines on Friday, Dec. 6, for talks aimed at reviewing progress of relations between Manila and Santiago.

Chilean Foreign Affairs Minister Alberto van Klaveren undertook an official visit in the country and was received by Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo.The two officials engaged in bilateral talks that assessed the current state of relations of the two countries and explored possible opportunities to advance ties.

They also exchanged views on a range of issues, including trade and investments, cooperation in disaster risk reduction and management and multilateral cooperation, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs . Van Klaveren would also meet with Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Aldeguer Roque to build on the outcomes of the recent Philippines-Chile Joint Economic Committee Meeting that was held in the Chilean capital of Santiago in November.

"Minister van Klaveren's visit sends a strong signal of Chile's commitment to its relations with the Philippines, and affirms the high importance that both countries attach to the bilateral relationship," DFA added.
