Students on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2024, were evacuated from the Mountain View Tower dorm on campus after a chemical spill. Details about the spill, as well as if anyone was injured, were not immediately known.
The Logan City Fire Department's hazardous materials unit responded to the dorm around 10 p.m. after the fire alarms were activated, according to students at the scene. USU HOUSING: Chemical spill. If there is anybody still in Mountain View Tower above the second floor please shelter in place. Chemical spill on first floor being investigated by HazMat Team
He noted that previous alarms this week were related to a blown radiator, adding that the building's basement had flooded the day before.Police tape had been removed by early Friday morning, and the dorm appeared to be occupied.
