Former Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon made the retort when he was asked to comment on the country’s newly launched “Love the Philippines” tourism slogan.
“What is important is we have infrastructure. Magaling tayo mag-welcome, ang init natin mag-welcome. Pag dumating pasahero dito, walang kuryente sa airport, ang init ,” added the former senator. “It is really the culture of tourism that you want, not the slogan,” said Gordon, who led the Department of Tourism from 2001 to 2004.
Gordon said he is for the country’s new tourism slogan as it is similar to the one that the country had during his stint as DOT chief.
