Long and Charles Henderson. “It is difficult to sum up the impact that coach Miller and his family have had on the community and school as whole,” Hyde said. “It is easy to do that with wins, but coach Miller was more than that. He molded men. From January to May, we probably spent more time with his family than our family.”McDaniel said Miller was successful because of “honesty, integrity, teamwork and hard work.”“We would go out and work hard,” Miller said. “There were not going to be any shortcuts.
He began his coaching career as head coach at Ashford Academy before holding assistant jobs at Houston County and at Pensacola High School . He then held jobs outside of teaching and coaching for nine years before returning to coaching and teaching in the fall of 1991 at G.W. Long.
