MANILA, Philippines — Actress-politician Girlie Javier-Ejercito, better known as Maita Sanchez, has passed away, her husband, former Laguna governor ER Ejercito confirmed on Sunday. She was 55 years old.
In a Facebook post, Ejercito revealed that Sanchez , former mayor of Pagsanjan, Laguna, died after battling endometrial cancer. She died at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, November 3.'My lovely and beautiful wife, our dearly beloved Mayora Girlie ' Maita ' Javier- Ejercito of Pagsanjan, Laguna just passed away due to endometrial cancer at 12:01 am, November 3, 2024 at St. Luke's Medical Center, Quezon City,' Ejercito wrote.'Heartfelt thanks for all your love and prayers,' he said.
Sanchez left behind six children namely Eric, Jet, Jerico, Jhulia, Diego and Gabriela.Her wake will be held on November 3 to 9 at their ancestral home at Don Porong Ejercito 1912 Ancestral Mansion in Pagsanjan, Laguna. While details of her burial are yet to be announced, there will be a daily mass at 7 p.m.The Ejercito family requested prayers and mass offerings for the repose of her soul.Sanchez served as the vice mayor of Pagsanjan from 2019 to 2022.
