POLICE Major General Benjamin Acorda Jr. formally assumed his post as head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday, April 24.
A member of the Philippine Military Academy 'Sambisig' Class of 1991, Acorda replaced General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. who reached the mandatory age of retirement.
The 55-year-old Acorda was designated in August 2022 as the PNP's chief of the directorate for intelligence. He also served as the head of the Palawan Police Provincial Office for two years -- 2014 to 2016.He will sit as PNP chief until his retirement on December 3.Acorda is the second PNP chief to serve under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
