Around 800,000 Filipinos were given decent jobs abroad while they also received scholarship grants under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the Department of Migrant Workers reported on Friday.

In her remarks at a gift-giving event at the Malacañan on Rizal Day, DMW Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople said the agency assisted 766,290 overseas Filipino workers in looking for jobs from July to December 2023. DMW also facilitated the repatriation of 6,341 distressed OFWs while it also supported 16,000 scholars as of November.“Next year, the DMW will be in full hiring mode because we need to fill up around 1,000 positions,” she said, adding that the DMW will also be opening 16 regional offices and four additional overseas labor posts or Migrant Workers Offices.

The first OFW Hospital in Mabalacat, Pampanga province now benefits OFWs and their families, Ople said. She said the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration will continue to work to ensure the welfare of OFWs and their families based on the President’s guidance and instructions.
