Officials from the White House were in Ashe County, North Carolina, Monday to select a Christmas Tree from a family-owned nursery.
was chosen after they were named the 2023 Grand Champion Growers at the National Christmas Tree Contest.The Cline Church Nursery is a 700-acre farm in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The nursey is co-owned by siblings Alex Church and Amber Scott.
It's not just an honor for us, It’s an honor for North Carolina," said Scott. "This is actually the 15th time that North Carolina will be presenting a tree to the White House. That’s more than any other state, so we're super proud of our industry., Jennifer Greene, the state of North Carolina is second in the nation for the number of trees harvested and produced.
“This is super exciting," she said. "It’s the highest honor you can have as a Christmas tree grower, and in North Carolina, we take so much pride in our growers.”It has to be a minimum of 18.5 feet tall to go in the Blue Room," she said. "They look for a certain width, they like it around 10-12 feet wide. It has to be perfect all the way around because people are going to be getting a 360-degree view of all around the tree.
