Officer Battista says he’s honored to be recognized but he says he was just doing his job.
UNIVERSITY CIRCLE , Ohio - Three first responders are being called heroes for saving a young man’s life. Sergeant Chris Hovan , Patrolman Anthony Battista and 911 Dispatcher Donna Burrell all work for the University Circle Police Department.
He initially tried to get into the police department’s locked security door, but was bleeding profusely and then collapsed to the floor. Officer Battista said he was wrapping up on his shift preparing to go home when he spotted the man in the lobby, Mike Parks is the CEO of the American Red Cross and presented all three first responders with a special pin and a certificate of extraordinary personal action for using their life saving skills, “You really embody the spirit of the American Red Cross by using action to help alleviate human suffering through your personal actions.”
