An investigation into a Lancaster city police officer who was seen pushing a journalist to the ground at a Donald Trump rally has been closed, with investigators stating that the officer was "following the law."WATCH | Police investigate after Lancaster officer pushes photographer outside Trump event
Police said that an individual at the rally was detained by Pennsylvania State Police, and while they were being transported to a police vehicle, a crowd began to follow the officer and the detainee. While attempting to make space within the crowd, officials report that an officer "pushed the crowd back" which "resulted in an individual falling to the ground." The investigation concluded that the officer followed the law in accordance with Lancaster County Bureau's training, policies and procedures.
Police further states that the officer acted within their rights in order to prevent the crowd from interfering with the arrest and that the officer's actions were meant to subdue a situation that "could escalate quickly."Every Lancaster City Police officer strives to maintain the safety and security of everyone during public gatherings.
