Surprisingly, the majority of applicants for product manager positions in Palo Alto, California actually come from New York. And the most common non-airline job held before someone becomes an airport baggage handler is as a cashier.These insights were gained through data analysis using artificial intelligence tools on job applications in ZipRecruiter’s online employment marketplace.

To help ensure diversity and inclusion in that training, she wants to see more women represented in roles relevant to AI. Those include boardroom and government decisions about the technology as well as the teams that actually build and train it. To reinforce her point she quoted Ruth Bader Ginsburg: “Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.”

Marron’s path to a career in AI shows us that women of many different backgrounds can find their own way there.
