City Council could not care less about our roads. They are focused on spending our money on downtown upgrades and remodeling the San Antonio International Airport. Like most of San Antonio, my neighborhood streets and sidewalks need improvements. I doubt if that will ever happen. The U.S. National Debt Clock surpassed $31 trillion on Oct. 4. Alarmingly, it only took 8 months and 4 days to add another $1 trillion.Focus on actionsThe Hispanic community would be well advised to not pay attention to what Republicans say but to what they do.

The last census revealed the population in the state of Texas grew. That growth was due to the minority population, mostly Hispanic. This gave Texas the opportunity to add two new congressional districts. Since the Republicans control the drawing of congressional districts, they had the opportunity to draw a least one Hispanic district. Instead, they took four existing minority districts and combined them into two districts while not drawing a Hispanic district.

I can only conclude that a majority of the voting public no longer has any sense of ethics or decency. What has happened to our country when people can blatantly engage in behavior in such a manner and it has no impact whatsoever?Kathy Bandujo, Boerne
