Why do I have to be recognized as Latino? American is the correct adjective, and if a further distinction must be made, mark me down as Mexican American. I have very little cultural comity with an ancestral Puerto Rican or Cuban.
However, it is never acceptable to use the term taco as a compliment. But what do they know? When you fail to truly diversify your leadership, your confidants, your advisers, you only get the Anglo view of the world. It’s OK to stumble and make a stupid mistake now and then. It’s how you recover and what’s in your heart that truly matters.Republicans are rejoicing that Jill Biden gave them something to rant and rave about. My goodness! How dare this woman use the word — taco! I compare this to the ridiculous outrage when Gerald Ford was campaigning in San Antonio and ate a tamale but did not remove the corn shuck.
Actually, none of us are exempt from this. But presently Republicans are reaching for whatever they can find.As a Hispanic, I was perplexed by all the hoopla about Hispanics being compared to tacos.
