Children of all ages came together in Alabang Town Center last Saturday, June 24, to showcase their skills and abilities during PGAA S.TY Gymnastics & Sports Center’s gymnastics competition, their student-athletes’ culminating activity.
PGAA stands for the Philippine Gymnastics Athletics Academy in La Fuerza Compound, along Alabang Zapote Road, Las Piñas. The S.Ty stands for the late Sonny Ty, a very successful gymnastics coach who died in 2008. His wife Normita “Boots” Ty is the head coach and owner of the gym.BusinessMirror spoke with the gymnasts who were excited to showcase their talents.
Seven-year-old gymnast Avery Abaño says she likes doing “splits and cartwheels” and likes doing gymnastics because “it is really cool, makes you flexible and healthy.”Avery says she hopes more young kids will try gymnastics. She is pictured above with other gymnasts and on the podium after winning gold in the beam, vault and floor events and silver in the bars for category: Level 1, 6-7 years-old.
