British actor Benedict Cumberbatch talks playing the domineering Phil Burbank in Western film ‘The Power of the Dog’
Nov 11 - British actor Benedict Cumberbatch fully immersed himself as a 1920s rancher while filming "The Power of the Dog", staying in character for the whole shoot and learning how to manage cattle, ironmongery and roping.
Cumberbatch, known for his roles in "Sherlock", "The Imitation Game" and "Doctor Strange", plays the domineering Phil Burbank whose world is turned upside down when his brother George brings home a new wife and her teenage son."There is just so much to understand about Phil and he's very far from me. It was a very immersive experience. I was allowed to be him for the whole shoot," Cumberbatch told Reuters in an interview.
