Michael Patrick Raridan was charged with intending to violate privacy without a person’s consent, and committing an obscene act.

YOSEMITE — A National Parks Service maintenance worker has been charged with attempting to film a law enforcement officer as she showered at Yosemite National Park, court records show.

The alleged victim, who this newspaper is not naming, is identified as an NPS employee and “commissioned federal law enforcement officer.” She told authorities that she was using a community shower on the evening of July 4, when she looked up and spotted the top of an iPhone camera peaking over the side of the shower, pointed at her.

She said she shouted, grabbed a towel, got dressed, then with the help of her dog began to search the grounds of the park for the culprit. She said she found him, hiding under an NPS vehicle, and confronted him about the filming. On Tuesday, federal prosecutors prosecutors charged Michael Patrick Raridan with one count of filming with intent to violate a person’s privacy and one count of committing an obscene act to breach the peace.

Investigators determined Raridan was a maintenance man who worked in the White Wolf area of Yosemite. He has not yet entered a plea, according to court records.
