The National Museum of the Philippines is now offering weekly yoga classes in selected areas inside the facility in celebration of the Museum and Galleries Month.

In a statement, the museum said"it aims to provide experiences that promote and improve well-being through a sensory activity that combines yoga with art therapy."Netizens were quick to react and said the program somehow disrespect and disrupt preservation of historic pieces at the museum.

Some aired expressed concerns on exposing the paintings to other elements such as sweat from the participants. Aren’t we the taxpayers spending so much money to keep the humidity of that room stable to safeguard the country’s most important painting? Yet, of all places, we chose to put a bunch of sweating yogists inside it? For what? Wala na ba ibang room na bakante sa buong complex? 😵‍💫"This is insensitive considering that the iconic painting of Juan Luna should remind us that our collective ancestors died in the hands of our colonizers," a netizen commented on Facebook.
