Both the Mets and Yankees are dancing this year, but Michael Kay doesn’t want fans of the crosstown rivals rooting for each other.

After the Mets pulled off a stunning win over the Milwaukee Brewers last Thursday to advance to the National League Divisional Series, some fans of the Bronx team congratulated their neighbor.“Is fandom different now? Why are you rooting for the Mets if you’re a Yankee fan?” an agitated Kay asked.

“All of a sudden though, Yankee and Mets fans, kumbaya. I am not buying it! And the ones that are, they’re not real Yankee fans. If they’re just reveling in the Mets having a great win, they’re not real fans!” Co-host Peter Rosenberg brought up the generational divide, asking, “Why can’t you just accept that people are different now?”
