The New York Yankees hav reportedly acquired former All-Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins.
In their first big acquisition ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline on Tuesday, the New York Yankees are acquiring All-Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.Craig Mish of the Miami Herald was the first to report Saturday that the two sides 'were in deep talks.'Chisholm, 26, is hitting .249 with 13 home runs and 22 stolen bases in 101 games this season for the rebuilding Marlins.
The Yankees won't need Chisholm in center field, where Aaron Judge is likely to claim the American League MVP award and Trent Grisham offers capable defense as a backup.However, the Yankees could be moving Chisholm back to second base, where Gleyber Torres has been a disappointment at the plate all season long. Torres, 27, entered Saturday's game batting .237 with a .681 OPS.
