“Triple H put me against Charlotte Flair at NXT Takeover in 2014 and it was like he knew that he could really trust and count on me to help Charlotte. I’m kind of a one-woman developmental system where I can literally take all the things I learned growing up in the Hart family, in Japan, in amateur wrestling and jujitsu, in England, from my coach in developmental and I can transfer it to people and be able to pay it forward. That’s really where I feel like my value comes in.
Having worked so many matches, with so many different talent, has afforded Neidhart many a special moment, not only for herself, but for others. “I started saying I was the root of greatness because I’ve worked with so many different women that I feel like in many ways that’s why I just redefine what success is. People have said to me you’re like the Cal Ripken of women in WWE. He was an incredible baseball player, an icon. For me, my role has required me to be more selfless.”
“It was handwritten and he signed it, George Wagner,” she said. “But he wrote my grandfather this letter about how to make Stampede wrestling better, and these are the things that you could do and what he did when he hired a certain talent and sold out a certain arena with over 12,000 people.” But reality, Neidhart conceded, can rear its ugly head at any moment. And while she loves the business like few others, she acknowledges that the many tragedies involving her family have given her an acute perspective that she never takes for granted.
