Wu-Tang Flan ain't nothing to f—k with!

owner Abraham Nuñez has worked on his Baja cuisine pop-up for the past seven years throughout the Mission, Bernal Heights and, currently, in the Excelsior. His pop-up is known for its plethora of seafood tacos and a flan shaped into the “W” logo of Staten Island-based rap group the Wu-Tang Clan.

At the brick-and-mortar, the menu will mostly stay the same, meaning the Wu-Tang Flan and potato taquitos, which are butter and rosemary mashed potatoes rolled up in a corn tortilla and deep fried before being topped with crema and a house-made red salsa, won’t be going anywhere. But it will also be a space for Nuñez to experiment with new dishes, as well plant-based items.

The story of Nuñez’s success will come full circle when the space opens in spring of next year. In 2013, he worked at the bar El Amigo, which was connected toin the Mission Street building. Then in 2015, after Emmy’s closed, he used the space for the first iteration of Chicano Nuevo. “It’s been a long hustle,” Nuñez told Eater SF. “It’s poetic. The first place I ever popped up was Chicano Nuevo, where I came up with the name and the logo, we’re in that same space.”
