A Bay Area real estate agent posted a comedic video tour of a San Jose house that spotlighted dingy rooms and a big spider. It just sold for almost $800,000.

A boarded-up Bay Area home that went viral on Instagram sold this week for nearly $800,000. Bay Area real estate agent Jessica Vergano posted a comedic video tour of the San Jose house in September that highlighted dingy-looking rooms, a spider “so large it should be paying rent,” a creepy basement and a garage with a missing board in its ceiling that she facetiously described as a “skylight.

Besides being boarded up, the property wasn’t in such bad shape, she said: “The bones of the house were great.” The limited and expensive Bay Area housing market can make homes like this attractive for people who are willing to refurbish, she said. The average price for a single-family home in San Jose is about $1.3 million, according to Zillow. When Vergano took the video, she was showing the house to a family who ultimately didn’t end up purchasing it.
