Oak Park police are investigating the shooting death of a woman found at a gas station parking lot at Chicago and Taylor avenues in the western suburb, that residents say is a source of safety concerns.
Oak Park police are investigating the early morning shooting death Wednesday of a woman found in the parking lot of a local gas station that nearby residents have taken to social media to say is a source of safety concerns.
According to a notice posted on the Oak Park Police Department’s Facebook page, officers responded around 1:52 a.m. to the 100 block of Chicago Avenue — at Taylor Avenue — on a call of shots fired and found a woman unresponsive in a parking lot there.Police said in the social media post that the woman had an apparent gunshot wound to the head area.
The woman was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said in the post. Some people who identified themselves as residents living nearby the gas station replied on the police department’s post, asking other area residents to join forces to address what they described as ongoing crime at the gas station.Another called for the 24-hour gas station “to be shut down or closed at a reasonable hour.”The West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, along with other area police departments, is assisting in the fatal shooting investigation.
