Woman falls from escalator, dies at Empower Field day of Kenny Chesney concert
The woman was sitting on a railing of the escalator when she fell to the concourse below and died as a result of her injuries, police said in a tweet. Empower Field said in a statement Sunday that the woman died “at the end of Saturday’s concert.”
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the woman involved in the tragic incident,” the statement said. Police did not respond to multiple requests for more information Sunday, and it was not clear what time the incident happened or where in the stadium the woman died. Police first announced the death at about 11 p.m. Saturday. They described the woman as a “guest” at Empower Field and said her death is being investigated as an accident.
Doors opened for the Kenny Chesney concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, with the event scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
