Woman arrested, accused of mailing drug-laced letters to county jail [Breaking]
A woman was arrested last week on suspicion of mailing drug-laced letters to a person detained in county jail, Sheriff’s Department officials said Tuesday.
Investigators arrested the 33-year-old woman after deputies at the jail’s mail processing center intercepted letters containing methamphetamine on four separate occasions between December and April, the department said in a news release. The letters appeared to be soaked in a dried liquid, sheriff’s officials said. Testing revealed the liquid was methamphetamine.Investigators tracked the letters back to the woman, who was arrested in Santee, sheriff’s officials said.
The woman was booked into the Las Colinas jail on suspicion of bringing drugs into a jail, trying to sell a controlled substance to a person in custody and conspiracy to commit crime, authorities said.
