Wife senses danger when stranger interupts phone call with her husband; her next call leads to arrest [Breaking]
San Diego police chased down and arrested a man carrying a knife in City Heights on Thursday morning after they were called by a woman who was worried because a stranger got on her husband’s cellphone while she was talking with him, authorities said.
Police went to a house on Meade Avenue south of El Cajon Boulevard around 9:25 a.m. after a woman called asking for them to check on her husband’s welfare. When officers arrived, they found the husband on a sidewalk and a man standing near the driver side of the husband’s car.Officers chased him about two blocks and into an apartment complex, where he was taken into custody.
The woman who called police told them she was “on the phone with her husband and somebody took the phone from the husband and spoke to her on the phone,” Gini said.Gini said the husband wasn’t injured. OnScene reported he was checked out for cuts and bruises he suffered during an altercation. Gini said officers had received related radio calls in the area, including someone reporting being threatened by a man with a knife. He said the suspect description was similar but police had not confirmed it was the same person.
