The Mummy Sequels Misused Technology After the success of The Mummy, the sequels became very ambitious and misused the relatively new technology in creating their VFX. Due to scheduling conflicts with Dwayne Johnson's WWE career, the VFX crew couldn't get the appropriate photographic references they needed to do a realistic rendering of his face as The Scorpion King, which, combined with a tight deadline to finish the job, meant a lackluster finished product that could have been better .
