As an online news event, the teaser trailer for 'Tenet' would have been disappointingly sparse. But as a surprise trailer amid a 15-20 minute trailer reel, it got the job done.

. And after watching it, I can see why, at least for now, it hasn't yet popped up online. That's not a criticism in terms of quality. It's very much, 11 months prior to release, an announcement tease in the most clear-cut sense of the phrase. It talks about a"new protagonist" and a"new mission" with a few shots for John David Washington and then we get the title. Aside from the obvious"This is a new Chris Nolan movie!" text, that's it. Whether or not the tease offers any real clues about the film's story, I cannot say and won't speculate., it remains offline. That's probably for the best. As a surprise treat amid 20 minutes of other trailers, it will get folks excited.
Until maybe December , that's all we need. Dropping the second trailer then will help it stand out amid what presumably will be a bunch of teases for sequels (
