Some parts of playing Glenn in The Walking Dead seriously frustrated a major star of the show, Steven Yeun, especially considering the show's tone.

Being the heart of The Walking Dead is one of the major reasons that Glenn had to die. With Negan quite literally beating to death is the last hint of hope in the world of The Walking Dead. Rick, Daryl , and Maggie all had their lives completely changed by the loss of Glenn. His horrific death impacts them because of who he was, not for the circumstances of his beating. While Glenn may have been killed too soon, and Yuen may have been dissatisfied with his character's nature, the early seasons of The Walking Dead thrive because of Glenn, and that is what makes his legacy so painful.
