Why is Nynaeve so important to Liandrin?

Played by Kate Fleetwood, Liandrin of the Red Ajah has developed an important presence in the Amazon series, often to the chagrin of main characters like Rosamund Pike's Moiriane. Most recently, she’s emerged as a major player in Egwene and Nynaeve’s storyline in The Wheel of Time season 2.
Liandrin Wants To Use Nynaeve As A Weapon Adding to the show’s efforts to humanize her, it’s worth noting that Liandrin was visibly upset when Nynaeve seemed to die in The Wheel of Time season 2, episode 3. However, her sadness should not be mistaken for frustration, which is most likely the real emotion that Liandrin felt when Nynaeve didn’t return from the Silver Arches.
Liandrin’s Plan For Nynaeve May Be Different From The Books In the book version of the story, Liandrin was secretly a member of the Black Ajah, a rogue Aes Sedai faction loyal to the Dark One. In The Great Hunt, Liandrin didn’t try to mentor Nynaeve, though she did try to manipulate her. On behalf of the Black Ajah, deceived Nynaeve, Elayne, and Egwene into leaving the White Tower, knowing they’d fall into a trap.
