PUBLISHED 1:35 PM CDT Jun. 22, 2022“I miss being in the action,” Allen said. “I miss being with the crew.”
Allen’s decision to retire is part of a trend with high school officials. The Texas Association of Sports Officials said their membership dropped by over 12% from the fall 2017 through spring 2021. Allen said he’s experienced vitriol first hand on multiple occasions, both on the gridiron and after the game in the parking lot.
