“The gaming world still has a long way to go with women and minorities and people of any marginalized group,” Pestle says. “A big part of [my project] is trying to infiltrate that world and create a space that feels safe and friendly—where anyone can come and not feel like they’re going to get attacked. There are a lot of Twitch chats that are quite scary, and thankfully I have some really amazing moderators in my chat room.
“I am the person that drives the car on tour, and I load in and set up,” Pestle says. “I’m also in the studio, and I’m tweaking the E.Q. [equalization] I sense that people are constantly underestimating all of the work that I’m doing behind the scenes, and I just thought, You know, what better way to show that I do get my hands dirty?”
“I wanted to take the reins and be the mastermind behind it, pulling the strings,” says Pestle, who is now an independent artist without a record label. “I wanted my music to sound like what I envisioned in my head, but I didn’t have the tools, so I learned.
