The Marvels release date was delayed to November and a new report explains the shift has to do with giving the MCU movie more time in post-production.
Why The Marvels release date was delayed by Disney gets explained in new report. The Marvel Cinematic universe has recently seen the release of its 31st movie — Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, the day the film was released, Disney announced Nia DaCosta's The Marvels had been delayed from July to November. Now, a new report claims to know the reason for Marvel Studios' decision.
According to The Wrap, the decision to delay The Marvels to November was made to allow the movie more time to complete post-production. As The Marvels will be a big crossover movie that features not only Carol Danvers' story as Captain Marvel, but the inclusion of Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau, it will need time to perfect the CGI of the three heroes' powers and off-world adventure. Besides, more time in post-production helps The Marvels address a current MCU problem.
The MCU Phase 4 received major criticism mainly due to two factors: movies and TV shows feeling rushed, and unimpressive CGI. Marvel Studios' new approach to its Disney+ output plans to fix both of the issues on the MCU's series. Phase 4 condensed a high number of 17 projects over two years, only six projects short of equaling the entirety of the Infinity Saga's content.
A longer post-production allows The Marvels to directly tackle the MCU's recent CGI issue, something the movie desperately needs to get right. The Marvels has a very difficult job to do, due to the movie having to deal with a wave of criticism from the get-go. Captain Marvel earned over $1.1 billion worldwide, but the movie also saw the rise of a vocal minority against the flick — who may be negative towards The Marvels as well.
