Why are some dogs sold at a high price? kuyakim_atienza explains
Some pet lovers may have already heard about Urus, an exotic bully whose estimated worth is around PHP10 million.According to #KuyaKimAnoNa on “24 Oras” Wednesday, dogs sold at a high price are mostly purebred. These animals also tend to be show winners and their offsprings are expected to inherit their traits.
Kuya Kim said dog breeds like Urus were fairly new, more muscular, had shorter legs, and were brachycephalic or had shortened front faces.Gerald Marasigan has an exotic bully named Top Boy, which he bought for USD20,000 or over PHP1 million. “Hindi po niya kayang i-tolerate ’yung masyadong mainit, ganun din po ’yung masyadong malamig,” he said.Animal advocates, however, are encouraging pet lovers to adopt instead of shop.
“Hindi natin maiiwasan na gusto pa rin nating bumili ng aso or pusa. Hindi naman natin dini-discourage, but if you can consider going to the pound or going to a shelter, it would be a very big help. Lalo na sa mga animal welfare advocates na tumutulong na mapabuti ’yung kalagayan noong mga stray dogs and cats,” said Dr. Maricelle Licuanan, founder of Philippine Pet Birth Control Center Foundation.
Meanwhile, the most expensive dog in the world, a Tibetan mastiff, was bought by a Chinese person for about PHP 99 million.
