The White Lotus season 2 star Haley Lu Richardson chimes in to defend her character Portia's choice of wardrobe from negative fan comments after the show's season finale. The White Lotus initially debuted in 2021 as a limited series, but season 2's return saw the show take off to new heights in viewership and online response. Much of that response centered on Richardson's character Portia and her questionable outfit choices.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In an interview with Variety, Richardson defended Portia's wardrobe, saying that the choices made by the actress alongside costume designer Alex Boivard and White, were specifically to craft a unique look for Portia. Richardson went as far as to say she loved the end result because she felt it perfectly represented the place Portia is at in life when audiences see her.
I think they’re exactly what they needed to be for this person. I’m proud to have been a part of that and collaborated with Alex [Bovaird], the costume designer and Mike, because I really think that it’s Portia. I feel like she is classically herself in the way she dresses, and how it connects to the person that she is on the inside, and the place that she’s at in her life. And I just really love the character that we created physically with hair and makeup and costume.
Luckily for her, Portia didn't end up as a victim of The White Lotus season 2. After Portia confronted him, Jack decided to drop her off near the airport, warning her to just get on a plane the next day and not get involved with the Tanya situation. Portia took his advice and headed to the airport where she was spotted wearing what might be her most egregious outfit yet according to the internet.
Where The White Lotus Season 3 Will Take Place The White Lotus season 3 location was hinted at in the season 2 finale, with Daphne exclaiming to her husband Cameron and couple Ethan and Harper, "Next year, the Maldives." White seemingly confirmed that the Maldives may indeed be where the next resort will be located in a featurette for HBO.
