Disney has announced that two new Star Wars films will release in 2026, and here is our prediction for which two projects they will be. Announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, Lucasfilm confirmed three new Star Wars theatrical projects were in development. One of these was a sequel to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, seeing Daisy Ridley return to the franchise as Rey building a new Jedi Order.
Rey's New Jedi Order Movie - May 2026 Beginning with the date of May 2026, it is highly likely this date will see the release of Rey's Jedi Order film. When the project was officially announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, it was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter that this film was the furthest along in production.
It is worth noting that this is all speculation, and Rey's Jedi Order movie could be confirmed as either of the two December releases of 2026 and 2027. However, based purely on Lucasfilm's prior wishes to have Rey's Jedi Order movie released first, it is hard to imagine any of the other films taking the spot of May 2026. Should the production of Rey's new movie go smoothly, it is likely Daisy Ridley will usher in the new age of Star Wars on the big screen first, on May 22, 2026.
