The Senate voted Thursday to confirm Andrew Wheeler, a former coal lobbyist, to head the Environmental Protection Agency.
Senators voted 52 to 47 to make Wheeler the country's top environmental regulator, with Republican Sen. Susan Collins voting against him and Arizona Democrat Kyrsten Sinema not voting. Wheeler has been serving as acting administrator and was nominated by President Donald Trump in January to replace Scott Pruitt, who resigned in July.
