The first story is posted above — told by WGAL legend Wendall Woodbury. In 1988, Wendall heard about an"old fashioned" Fourth of July celebration at Musser Park in Lancaster. But was it really old-fashioned? Wendall went to check for himself.It was the summer of 1990, and the Fourth of July Independence Weekend Festival in Harrisburg was the talk of the town. The event at Riverfront Park drew thousands of visitors with its assortment of attractions.
