A 10 a.m. parade will kick off the city’s tribute to its agricultural past on Saturday. The free festival, with cherry pie-baking and pie-eating contests and dessert booths, will follow from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. along West Estudillo Avenue. More than 200 booths featuring the works of makers, artists, designers and creative small businesses will line the streets of History Park for a huge show this weekend, along with 50 food purveyors curated by Moveable Feast. Entertainment will be provided by K-Pop-Up and an onsite kitten lounge from the rescue group Mini Cat Town. Free admission. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at 635 Phelan Ave., San Jose.
Book lovers, rejoice. Authors come from all over the world to downtown Berkeley for this festival. Saturday is devoted to writing seminars, with inspiration and advice for authors and would-be authors of all ages, in all genres. Sunday’s the day for the free Outdoor Fair and Literary Marketplace, with exhibits, live performances, food court. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tis the season for alfresco sipping and shopping. Wine tasting, microbrews, food, live music, a kids zone and hundreds of artisan booths.
