The Oasis Film Festival is back for its second annual edition with more than twenty different movies being showed Friday and Saturday.
If you’ve been thinking of going to the box office to see a movie then you’re in luck this weekend. The Oasis Film Festival kicks off this Friday and you will have more than 20 options to choose from.
The second annual Oasis Film Festival is almost upon us and time to get your tickets is running short. Now these films aren’t blockbusters yet, but with local support, you might help a young filmmaker along the way. “Our main focus has kind of been Arkansas filmmakers, especially students, but we’ve got films showing from all over the state and we’ve gotten a couple from as far as Australia,” Lorenzo Balderas, the director of the Oasis Film Festival, said.
The Oasis Film Fest will feature movies from all different backgrounds, including the recent winners of the student eclipse film contest. One of the biggest attractions, however, are the eight different workshops available to anyone interested, for free. “We’ve got stuff on writing; we’ve got stuff on acting. We really tried to kind of hit all the specific things and people can come to as many as they want to,” Balderas said.
So, whether you’re looking to spend an hour or a day watching and supporting local filmmakers, you have plenty of options. “We’ve got nine screening blocks total, each block has about 45 to 50 minutes' worth of films or film,” Balderas said.Tickets range in price from $10-$35 and can be purchased through Foundation of the Arts.
