In a recent poll, only 7% of people who suspected that they were infected with COVID-19 were diagnosed officially through a test -- suggesting that the new coronavirus is more widespread than current data indicates.

April 24, 2020 -- About 10% of people think they may have been infected with COVID-19, yet only 7% of them received a test to find out, a new WebMD poll finds.

The findings point to the difficulties people have had getting tested and in providing public health officials with data about its prevalence in the U.S., to fully understand the scope of the disease,” says John Whyte, MD, WebMD’s chief medical officer.28% said they didn’t think they needed one.16% said they were concerned about going to a clinic.
